This is where you'll find all the firmware updates for your Y1 music player — whether you want the original manufacturer software or custom Rockbox builds. Everything's free to download and comes straight from GitHub.
New to this? If you're using Windows or Mac, just grab
Updater and you're good to go.
It's a simple app that walks you through everything, and it comes with all the tools you need already built in — no hunting around for extra downloads.
Updater automatically lists the latest updates to the Y1 and Rockbox and guides you through its installation, but alternatively you can use SP Flash Tool or MTKClient (both are installed automatically by
Updater in ToolkitAccess SP Flash Tool and MTKClient by clicking Toolkit in the Updater app (Windows/Mac) or from the Windows Start Menu. There's also a Troubleshooting folder which provides a helpful folder to place the contents of a rom.zip in and click a shortcut to run SP Flash Tool or MTKClient to install or troubleshoot automatically.).
What you'll download:
Whether you're fixing something, trying new features, or just keeping your Y1 up to date — we've got you covered.
Make your Y1 truly yours with custom themes! Choose from a variety of options depending on your firmware and resolution.
💡 Tip: All these theme directories can also be found in the Toolkit included with
Updater.
Before we can install the updater, you'll need two drivers so your computer can talk to your Y1 properly:
Ubuntu is recommended for the best experience, but other distributions should work as well. Follow the instructions in the new tab to set up the required dependencies.
You MAY be able to run
Updater in Linux mode, but we have not tested this configuration. Follow the Linux instructions in the new tab and try running it in your Linux environment.
Note: This is experimental and may not work as expected.
For Windows ARM64 users, more advanced users may be able to run the Linux version using Python, Libusb, android-platform-tools, USBIPD-win and WSLg. Ubuntu is recommended.
