Y2Linux 1.0 Beta 8.30: Bluetooth headphone volume, Previous restarts the song, no audiobooks in shuffle. Linux 6.18 and the native Reborn music player for the Innioasis Y2.
Already running Y2Linux
Settings → About & Updates → Check for Updates → Update Now.
What's new
- Bluetooth headphones follow the player's volume (Y2Reborn #22). Headphones that support it (AVRCP absolute volume, most current ones) now get their own volume set by the wheel instead of the player turning the music down in software, so they can reach their full volume. Changing the volume on the headphones moves the player's volume too. The wired volume is kept separately. When headphones take over, the loudness stays about where it was. Headphones without this feature work as before.
- Previous starts the song again (Y2Reborn #21). More than 3 seconds into a song, Previous goes back to its start; press it again to go to the previous song (like Y2Player and the iPod). Headphone buttons and car controls do the same.
- Seeking is more reliable. A seek (holding Previous/Next, or the new restart) could be undone by the song that was still playing and continue where it was; it now lands where you asked.
What's fixed
- Audiobooks no longer play in music shuffle (#58). Shuffle and Play from All Songs, a genre, an artist or a folder only queue music; audiobooks stay in Audiobooks.
- Songs plays in list order (Y2Reborn #21). A song picked in Songs is now followed by the next song in the list (A to Z), not the next song of its album.
- No more cut-off messages (#55). The update screen said "This takes less than a minut"; every line on that screen now fits. Longer messages at the top of the screen (16 of them were cut, for example "Couldn't reach the update server. Try again in a moment.") now use a second line.
- Less battery drain in sleep on players with the GC9503V screen (#42, #45). These players now switch the screen fully off at screen-off too, as ST7701S players have since Beta 8.1. It was confirmed on a GC9503V player: about 1.9 mA overnight instead of 30–37 mA. The screen takes about a third of a second longer to light up.
Everything from Beta 8.29 is included.
Install (from stock)
You need SP Flash Tool v5.2032, a USB cable, Y2Linux-1.0.0-beta.8.30-first-install.zip below and the Innioasis Y2 firmware package v3.2.0 from Innioasis (only this version works; it is also your way back to stock).
- Unpack both.
- SP Flash Tool → Download Only → load
MT6582_Android_scatter.txtfrom the Y2Linux zip. Exactly BOOTIMG, RECOVERY, ANDROID and USRDATA are ticked. - Click Download and connect the switched-off Y2; wait for the green tick.
- Unplug and press Power: the player sets up its Internal Storage (a few seconds), then Y2Linux and Reborn start, music works.
- Connect the Y2 to the computer and copy (don't move)
system.imgfrom the Innioasis package into the Firmware folder on Internal Storage. The player takes the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth firmware from it and turns the radios on.

Known issues (beta)
- The Bluetooth volume takeover was tested without real headphones; if your headphones' volume behaves oddly, please send a report.
- Some car radios don't show the song and artist yet; we are looking into it.
- In a very long single-file book, jumping to another chapter takes 2–3 seconds.
- The highest volume is still lower than stock's, even at High; demanding headphones may want more.
- The restart fix of Beta 8.4 is not yet confirmed over many restarts. If the screen ever stays dark, hold Power for 10 s and start again.
- Battery life in sleep is not yet stock-like (about 8 mA vs stock 1.3 mA on the developer's player).
- The charging fixes (#47, Beta 8.29) are not yet confirmed on an affected player; if yours still doesn't charge, please send a report.
- The player cannot detect wired headphones yet; the jack plays whenever no Bluetooth headphones are connected.
- BBC radio stations stream only in HLS, which the player does not play yet (planned for a later beta).
- FM radio is in the works for a later beta.
