Y2Linux 1.0 Beta 5: a real keyboard, library search and a polish pass. Linux 6.18 and the native Reborn music player for the Innioasis Y2.
Already running Y2Linux
Settings → About & Updates → Check for Updates → Download Update → Restart and Install.
What's new
- Full-screen keyboard for Wi-Fi passwords, radio station search and the new library search, replacing the one-row letter wheel. Driven by the buttons around the wheel:
- Back / Play-Pause / Previous / Next move up / down / left / right (hold Previous or Next to keep moving),
- Select types the key, hold Select when you're done, hold Back to cancel.
- Pages for capitals (Shift once, twice to lock), digits, symbols and accented letters; an eye key shows the Wi-Fi password while you type it.
- The music keeps playing while you type; the wheel does nothing on the keyboard.
- Search your music: Home → Search finds artists, albums and songs while you type ("beat" finds The Beatles, "sigur ros" finds Sigur Rós), with a live count of matches.
- Polish pass over every screen: consistent wording and capitals, notices no longer cover what you're looking at, a clearer turn-off screen.
Everything from Beta 4 and 4.1 (internet radio and its fixes) is included.
Install (from stock)
You need SP Flash Tool v5.2032, a USB cable, Y2Linux-1.0.0-beta.5-first-install.zip below and the Innioasis Y2 firmware package v3.2.0 from Innioasis (also your way back to stock).
- Unpack both.
- SP Flash Tool → Download Only → load
MT6582_Android_scatter.txtfrom the Y2Linux zip. Exactly BOOTIMG, RECOVERY, ANDROID and USRDATA are ticked. - Click Download and connect the switched-off Y2; wait for the green tick.
- Unplug and press Power: Y2Linux and Reborn start, music works.
- Connect the Y2 to the computer and copy (don't move)
system.imgfrom the Innioasis package onto the Firmware drive. The player takes the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth firmware from it and turns the radios on.

Known issues (beta)
- The keyboard and search were built and checked on the computer; this is their first release on the player.
- Streaming radio keeps Wi-Fi busy: battery use is higher than for local music, and Bluetooth headphones may drop out more often while streaming.
- FM radio is planned for the next beta.
- Battery life in sleep is not yet stock-like (about 9 mA vs stock 1.3 mA).
- The player cannot detect wired headphones yet. Tested on one hardware revision and one player.
