Y2Linux 1.0 Beta 7.1: updates in one step, the computer screen at once, the time zone by itself. Linux 6.18 and the native Reborn music player for the Innioasis Y2.
Already running Y2Linux
Settings → About & Updates → Check for Updates → Download Update → Restart and Install. From Beta 7.1 on, updating is one step: Update Now.
New
- Update in one step. Update Now downloads, checks and installs the new version on one screen; the player restarts by itself at the end. Cancel stops the download while it runs; nothing changes on the player until the check is done. If the battery is below half and no charger is connected, the player says so before it downloads anything.
- Check for Updates answers at once. "Up to Date" or "Update Available" appears the moment the check finishes, not a few seconds later.
- The computer screen appears as soon as you connect the cable, on every screen (it used to appear only while you were in Settings, and sometimes not at all), and it lights the screen if it was off. While a computer has the player's drives, the screen stays until you unplug the cable; music, volume and Power keep working.
- Automatic time zone. The player finds its time zone over Wi-Fi by itself (Settings → Display → Time Zone → Automatic). It asks a public service (ipapi.co, or ipwho.is) where its internet address is, once per Wi-Fi network; nothing else is sent. A time zone you already chose stays as it is.
- A shorter time zone list: Automatic, UTC and the countries A to Z; a country's cities only where they keep different times.
Everything from Beta 7 (the new design, the CPU overheat protection after sleep) is included.
Install (from stock)
You need SP Flash Tool v5.2032, a USB cable, Y2Linux-1.0.0-beta.7.1-first-install.zip below and the Innioasis Y2 firmware package v3.2.0 from Innioasis (also your way back to stock).
- Unpack both.
- SP Flash Tool → Download Only → load
MT6582_Android_scatter.txtfrom the Y2Linux zip. Exactly BOOTIMG, RECOVERY, ANDROID and USRDATA are ticked. - Click Download and connect the switched-off Y2; wait for the green tick.
- Unplug and press Power: Y2Linux and Reborn start, music works.
- Connect the Y2 to the computer and copy (don't move)
system.imgfrom the Innioasis package onto the Firmware drive. The player takes the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth firmware from it and turns the radios on.

Known issues (beta)
- These changes were built and checked on the computer; this is their first release on the player.
- The 12- or 24-hour clock follows the time zone; there is no switch yet.
- FM radio is planned for the next beta.
- Battery life in sleep is not yet stock-like (about 8 mA vs stock 1.3 mA). The player cannot detect wired headphones yet.
