Power, volume and playback are covered below.
Restore or update it from the Q3 archive.
Use the buttons for power, volume, back and home, and tap the screen for menus and playback controls. Press and hold power for the shutdown options.
Charge with the supplied cable before the first long listen. The first start guide covers charging, power and language in order.
Connect the player to a computer with a USB data cable. It appears as a device, and you copy music, audiobooks and video into their folders.
Music, Audiobooks,
Video or Pictures. The full transfer guide covers Windows, macOS, phones and microSD cards.
Open the Music app. Songs are grouped by artist, album, folder and playlist; the tabs across the top are the ones you will use most. Rotate the wheel or swipe to move, and press or tap to choose.
The app also holds the settings that change how the player sounds:
Plug in wired headphones first: the cable is the antenna. Open FM Radio, run the automatic scan, then save the stations you want. Move away from chargers and metal furniture if reception is poor. The full walkthrough is in the radio guide.
Press and hold the REC button for about three seconds to start recording. The default mode is General; open the recording app to change it before you start.
General, Meeting, Interview, Lecture and Pocket each tune the microphone for a different room. Pick one before recording rather than trying to fix it afterwards.
Press T-Mark during recording or playback. Each press adds a marker you can jump back to instead of replaying an hour of audio.
Slide the power/lock key to lock the buttons so a bag strap cannot pause a lecture halfway through.
Recordings are saved as audio files in the player's recording folder. Connect the player to a computer to copy them somewhere safer; the file transfer guide covers Windows and macOS.
Use Play/Pause, Prev and Next to move through recordings. The playback app can resume, repeat, and delete a recording you no longer need. To hand a recording to someone else, copy the file off the player rather than recording it again through the speaker.
Use the Ebook app for text files and the Photo and Video apps for media. Copy the files into the matching folder on the player first. The screen is small, so large PDFs are better read on a tablet; plain text and EPUB files are much more comfortable.
Charge before a software install, keep the screen timeout short, and use the sleep timer at night. A microSD card is the easiest way to carry more music; insert it with the player off and eject the player safely before removing it. More detail: battery and charging and storage and SD cards.
Back up anything you care about, then open Settings → Factory reset. The player erases its internal storage and restarts. The Timmkoo Q3 factory reset guide has the full steps, including what to do when the player will not reach Settings.
Use Innioasis Updater CE and choose Q3,
then Original Software. You can also download
rom_q3.zip from the
Q3 archive and flash it with SP Flash
Tool. The restore guide walks through both routes.
Charge it for an hour with a known-good cable, then hold power for ten seconds. If nothing happens, the recovery guide is the next step.
Try a different cable before anything else. Many cables carry power only.
Check the file is in a folder the music app scans, and that its format is supported. Re-scan from the music app's menu.
Every model has a page in this section.
